About
Who We Are
Friends of Lawrence County Animals is a group of people who care deeply about animals and our community. We believe humane issues are human issues; that when we care for animals properly it improves quality of life for everyone.

FOLCA is project-driven 501c3 nonprofit focusing on activities that promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. We are currently raising funds to help the City of Lawrenceburg build a larger, better Shelter facility. We accept donations of pet food and supplies to stock our Pet Food Pantry, which helps Lawrence Countians care for their pets during times of economic struggle. Although we are not a rescue organization, we helped coordinate the removal of 40+ seriously ill dogs from a local hoarding situation.

FOLCA is a young organization, but we have 1,200 followers on our Facebook page. We are active members of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, having received the gift of a five-year membership from Loretto Telecom. Our float was part of Loretto’s 2020 Oktoberfest Parade and will be part of the lineup at other community parades. Future plans also include information campaigns about responsible pet ownership, spay/neuter, and more.
FOLCA is also working closely with Lawrence County officials to find a workable solution to humane issues outside the city limits of Lawrenceburg. The County Commission established an Animal Welfare committee that will help steer this important work.
